Bruno Maule began his sporting activity in 1959, at the age of 12, with artistic gymnastics, boxing, judo and karate, and in 1968 he began practising traditional aikido. In 1978 he met Master Koichi Tohei and from there moved on to Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido, under the guidance of Master K. Yoshigasaki. He teaches almost daily in his dojo to both children and adults, offers training courses for instructors (Shidoin) and has been conducting seminars for decades in Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, as well as in Austria and Algeria, and recently also in Croatia and Sweden. His motto: '...one has to search for the origin of the technique, its meaning and prove its effectiveness in order to be able to perform it harmoniously without contrasts until it becomes poetry...'.

Bruno Maule begann 1959 seine sportlichen Aktivitäten im Alter von 12 Jahren mit Kunstturnen, Boxen, Judo und Karate. 1968 begann er mit traditionellem Aikido. 1978 begegnete er Meister Koichi Tohei und wechselte daraufhin zum Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido, unter der Leitung von Meister K. Yoshigasaki. Er unterrichtet in seinem Dojo beinahe täglich Kinder und Erwachsene, bietet eine Lehrerausbildung (Shidoin) an und leitet seit Jahrzehnten Seminare in Italien, Frankreich, Deutschland, der Schweiz sowie in Österreich und Algerien, neuerdings auch in Kroatien und Schweden. Sein Motto: "…es ist notwendig, den Ursprung der Technik sowie ihre Bedeutung zu ergründen und ihre Wirksamkeit zu beweisen, um sie dann auf harmonische Weise ohne Konflikte auszuführen, bis sie zur Poesie wird…".

Bruno Maule inizia l'attività sportiva nel 1959, all'età di 12 anni, con la ginnastica artistica, la boxe, il judo e il karate, e nel 1968 inizia la pratica dell'aikido tradizionale. Nel 1978 conosce il Maestro Koichi Tohei e da lì passa allo Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido, sotto la guida del Maestro K. Yoshigasaki. Insegna quasi quotidianamente nel suo dojo sia ai bambini che agli adulti, offre corsi di formazione per istruttori (Shidoin) e conduce da decenni seminari in Italia, Francia, Germania, Svizzera, Austria e Algeria, e recentemente anche in Croazia e Svezia. Il suo motto: "…bisogna ricercare l’origine della tecnica, il suo significato e provarne l’efficacia per arrivare ad eseguirla in maniera armoniosa senza contrasti fino a farla diventare poesia…”.

Receiving his Black Belt 1st Dan in 1970, Sensei Burgess has been fortunate and privileged to have been graded by Maruyama Sensei for his Okuden grade and Tohei Sensei for his 5th Dan Aikido. In 1986 and 1992, Sensei visited and trained in Japan with Tohei Sensei. In 2021 Shihan Burgess was promoted to Kudan (9th Dan) by Doshu Yoshigasaki.

Dopo aver ricevuto la cintura nera 1° Dan nel 1970, Sensei Burgess ha avuto la fortuna e il privilegio di essere stato promosso da Maruyama Sensei per il suo grado di Okuden e da Tohei Sensei per il suo 5° Dan di Aikido. Nel 1986 e nel 1992, Sensei ha visitato e si è allenato in Giappone con Tohei Sensei. Nel 2021 Shihan Burgess ottenne la promozione a Kudan (9° Dan) da Doshu Yoshigasaki.

I started aikido in 1974 with Will Stoelman sensei and Katsuaki Asai sensei in Dusseldorf, with whom I achieved 1st dan Aikikai aikido in 1979.
From the end of 1982 I trained with Doshu Kenjiro Yoshigasaki (Ki no Kenkyukai Association International), student of Grandmaster Koichi Tohei (Ki no Kenkyukai Japan). Who I visited in Japan in 1986 and with whom I felt as an uke how powerful gentleness is. After the death of K Yoshigasaki sensei in 2021, the KNKAI merged into the Ki No Kenkyukai Musubi (KNKM)

8th Dan Ki-Aikido, (KNKM 2022), Aikido teacher B and dan examiner ( JBN 7thDan aikido), 5th dan Ki-Aikido (KNK Japan K. Tohei), Shiatsu and Jissenkai therapist. I am founder of the Ki Aikido Centrum and have been happily giving weekly trainings since 1980, previously 40 years in Den Bosch, now in Veen, Nijmegen and Utrecht. Also weekend trainings in Brussels, Utrecht and Veen. Twice a year I lead the weekend Misogi Retreat in Furusato.

Ich begann mit Aikido 1974 bei Will Stoelman Sensei und Katsuaki Asai Sensei in Düsseldorf, bei denen ich 1979 den 1. Dan Aikikai Aikido erlangte.
Ab Ende 1982 trainierte ich bei Doshu Kenjiro Yoshigasaki (Ki no Kenkyukai Association Internationale), Schüler von Großmeister Koichi Tohei (Ki no Kenkyukai Japan). Den ich 1986 in Japan besuchte und bei dem ich als Uke spürte, wie kraftvoll Sanftheit sein kann. Nach dem Tod von K. Yoshigasaki Sensei im Jahr 2021 ging die KNKAI in die Ki no Kenkyukai Musubi (KNKM) über.

Außerdem Wochenendtrainings in Brüssel, Utrecht und Veen. Zweimal im Jahr leite ich das Wochenend-Misogi-Retreat in Furusato.

Dalla fine del 1982 mi sono allenato con il Doshu Kenjiro Yoshigasaki (Ki no Kenkyukai Association Internationale), allievo del Gran Maestro Koichi Tohei (Ki no Kenkyukai Japan). Che visitai in Giappone nel 1986 e con il quale sentii come uke quanto sia potente la gentilezza. Sono il fondatore del Ki Aikido Centrum [nei Paesi Bassi] e tengo felicemente allenamenti settimanali dal 1980, prima per 40 anni a Den Bosch, ora a Veen, Nijmegen e Utrecht. I met Doshu in 1983, and opened my dojo in 1987. Introducing Ki Aikido in Denmark. Over the years I have taught seminars in dojo’s in Poland, Germany, Sweden and Brazil, as well as in the different danish dojo’s. The teaching of Doshu has been a deep source of inspiration both in my personal experience and in my professional life. I am very grateful for having had the opportunity to meet and learn from him.

Ich lernte Doshu 1983 kennen, und eröffnete mein Dojo 1987. Ich führte Ki Aikido in Dänemark ein. Im Laufe der Jahre habe ich Seminare in Dojos in Polen, Deutschland, Schweden und Brasilien sowie in den verschiedenen dänischen Dojos geleitet. Die Lehre des Doshu war eine tiefe Quelle der Inspiration, sowohl in meiner persönlichen Erfahrung als auch in meinem beruflichen Leben. Ich bin sehr dankbar dafür, dass ich die Gelegenheit hatte, ihn zu kennen und von ihm zu lernen.

Ho incontrato Doshu nel 1983 e ho aperto il mio dojo nel 1987. Ho introdotto il Ki Aikido in Danimarca. Nel corso degli anni ho tenuto seminari in diversi dojo in Polonia, Germania, Svezia e Brasile, oltre che in diversi dojo danesi. L'insegnamento del Doshu è stato una profonda fonte di ispirazione sia nella mia esperienza personale che nella mia vita professionale. Sono molto grato di aver avuto l'opportunità di incontrarlo e di imparare da lui.

Studied Buddhist history, yoga teacher 1980 -1985 in India, Sri Lanka, Cambodia and Thailand. Practised Ki Aikido since 1986, first under Uwe Twelker (originally Berlin). From 1990 independent practice with group in sports club mainly under Eugène du Long as Shihan and Yoshigasaki Doshu. From 2000 foundation of my own dojo "Aikido Dojo infinity moves" together with my husband Raymond Scanlon with Beppe Ruglioni Sensei as Shihan and Yoshigasaki Doshu. In 2009 my dojo became a non-profit association (same name). Until 2020 training director and board member in the dojo with up to 150 students, about 2/3 of them children and youth. From the beginning of my aikido teaching I attended international seminars with Beppe San and Yoshigasaki Doshu several times a year. With the beginning of Corona 2021 I consciously downsized the dojo and the number of students to 60. In the dojo I teach aikido, meditation, mindfulness, Ji Kyo Jutsu (Japanese healing gymnastics) and I run a small arts and crafts business in textile design.

Ab 1990 eigenständige Praxis mit Gruppe im Sportverein hauptsächlich unter Eugène du Long als Shihan und Yoshigasaki Doshu. Ab 2000 Gründung eines eigenen Dojos „Aikido Dojo infinity moves“ gemeinsam mit meinem Mann Raymond Scanlon mit Beppe Ruglioni Sensei als Shihan und Yoshigasaki Doshu. 2009 wurde mein Dojo in einen gemeinnützigen Verein umgewandelt (gleicher Name). Bis 2020 Trainingsleitung und Vorstand im Dojo mit bis zu 150 Schülern, davon ca. 2/3 Kinder und Jugendliche. Von Beginn meiner Aikido- Lehre an besuchte ich mehrmals im Jahr internationale Seminare mit Beppe San und Yoshigasaki Doshu. Mit Beginn Corona 2021 bewusstes downsizing des Dojos und der Anzahl der Schüler auf 60 Personen. Ich unterrichte im Dojo Aikido, Meditation, Achtsamkeit, Ji Kyo Jutsu ( japanische Heilgymnastik) und führe ein kleines Kunstgewerbe in Textildesign.

Dal 2000 fondazione del mio dojo "Aikido Dojo infinity moves" insieme a mio marito Raymond Scanlon con Beppe Ruglioni Sensei come Shihan e Yoshigasaki Doshu. Nel 2009 il mio dojo è diventato un'associazione senza scopo di lucro (stesso nome). Fino al 2020 sono stata responsabile dell'allenamento e membro del consiglio direttivo del dojo con un massimo di 150 studenti, di cui circa 2/3 bambini e ragazzi. Fin dall'inizio del mio insegnamento dell'aikido ho frequentato seminari internazionali con Beppe San e Yoshigasaki Doshu più volte all'anno. I have been practising Aikido since 1986, first in the dojo at that time Hedemannstraße in Berlin, which Werner Kristkeitz had handed over to a group of teachers. Michael Winter, Marion Kranz, Roland Klimpel, Volker Sawatzki were my first teachers. In the nineties I taught many groups of children in the dojo and in schools as well as courses at universities. From this, the nucleus for my own dojo in Berlin emerged in 1999. I am happy that the interest and commitment among the students is still so lively.

Seit 1986 praktiziere ich Aikido, zunächst im Dojo damals Hedemannstraße in Berlin, das Werner Kristkeitz einer Gruppe von Unterrichtenden übergeben hatte. Michael Winter, Marion Kranz, Roland Klimpel, Volker Sawatzki waren meine ersten Lehrer. In den Neunzigern habe ich viele Gruppen von Kindern im Dojo und in Schulen unterrichtet sowie Kurse an Hochschulen durchgeführt. Daraus ist 1999 der Kern für mein eigenes Dojo in Berlin entstanden. Ich freue mich, dass unter den Schüler*innen Interesse und Engagement weiterhin so lebendig sind.

I have been practising Aikido since 1988 and teaching it in various contexts since 1993. My path began with the teachers Peter Ullrich, Wolfgang Walter and Uwe Bühling in Nuremberg. I am blessed to have experienced and felt Doshu Yoshigasaki Sensei as a teacher for 33 years. After co-teaching in various dojos, I founded my own dojo in Fürth in 2008. In order to lead more women onto the wonderful path of Aikido, I very consciously founded a dojo for women at that time. Years of experience in teaching mixed-gender groups had shown that women at the beginning of their Aikido practice are too often slowed down by the physical superiority and the more or less subtle claims to power of their male practice partners and do not pursue the Aikido path further. The women's Aikido project is successful and after 15 years the time has come to teach mixed groups again. As Misogi is an important root of Ki Aikido, I opened a Misogi Dojo in 2014 in my home - a listed farmstead in wonderful nature in northern Bavaria - where Misogi retreats are offered several times a year. As a healer and shiatsu therapist, I am also fascinated by the transformational and healing potential of Aikido and Misogi. I will follow the path of Aikido until the end of my life, in whatever form it takes.

Seit 1988 übe ich Aikido und unterrichte es seit 1993 in diversen Zusammenhängen. Begonnen hat mein Weg mit den Lehrern Peter Ullrich, Wolfgang Walter und Uwe Bühling in Nürnberg. Ich bin gesegnet, dass ich Doshu Yoshigasaki Sensei 33 Jahre als Lehrer erleben und fühlen konnte. Nachdem ich in verschiedenen Dojos mit unterrichtet hatte, habe ich 2008 mein eigenes Dojo in Fürth gegründet. Um mehr Frauen auf den wunderbaren Weg des Aikido zu führen, habe ich damals sehr bewußt ein Dojo für Frauen gegründet. Die jahrelange Erfahrung beim unterrichten gemischtgeschlechtlicher Gruppen hatte gezeigt, dass Frauen am Beginn ihrer Aikido-Praxis zu häufig durch die physische Überlegenheit und die mehr oder minder subtilen Machtansprüche der männlichen Übungspartner gebremst werden und den Aikidoweg nicht weiter verfolgen. Das Frauen-Aikido-Projekt ist erfolgreich und nach 15 Jahren ist nun die Zeit gekommen auch wieder gemischte Gruppen zu unterrichten. Da Misogi eine wichtige Wurzel des Ki Aikido ist, habe ich 2014 in meinem Zuhause - einem denkmalgeschützten Gehöft in wunderbarer Natur in Nordbayern - ein Misogi-Dojo eröffnet in dem mehrmals jährlich Misogi-Retreats angeboten werden. Als Heilpraktikerin und Shiatsutherapeutin fasziniert mich auch das transformatorische und heilende Potenzial von Aikido und Misogi. Ich werde den Weg des Aikido bis zu meinem Lebensende gehen, in welcher Form auch immer.

Pratico l'Aikido dal 1988 e lo insegno in vari contesti dal 1993. Il mio percorso è iniziato con gli insegnanti Peter Ullrich, Wolfgang Walter e Uwe Bühling a Norimberga. Ho la fortuna di aver sperimentato e sentito Doshu Yoshigasaki Sensei come insegnante per 33 anni. Dopo aver insegnato in vari dojo, nel 2008 ho fondato il proprio dojo a Fürth. Al fine di condurre un maggior numero di donne sul meraviglioso sentiero dell'Aikido, ho fondato molto consapevolmente un dojo solo per donne. Anni di esperienza nell'insegnamento a gruppi misti avevano dimostrato che le donne all'inizio della loro pratica dell'Aikido sono troppo spesso rallentate dalla superiorità fisica e dalle pretese di potere più o meno sottili dei loro partner maschili e non proseguono il percorso dell'Aikido. Il progetto di Aikido femminile ha avuto successo e dopo 15 anni è arrivato il momento di insegnare nuovamente a gruppi misti. Poiché il misogi è una radice importante del Ki Aikido, nel 2014 ho aperto un dojo di misogi nella mia casa - una fattoria vincolata in una natura meravigliosa nel nord della Baviera - dove vengono offerti ritiri di misogi diverse volte all'anno. Come guaritore e terapeuta shiatsu, sono anche affascinata dal potenziale di trasformazione e guarigione dell'aikido e del misogi. Seguirò il percorso dell'aikido fino alla fine della mia vita, in qualsiasi forma avvenga.
